Departure Day!

We had one clear mission: move to Punta Cana, for the past 18 months. After selling our house and sorting our belongings, we packed eight suitcases and got our three dogs vaccinated, crated, and ready for the flight. My parents came along to help—together, we looked like a well-oiled convoy cruising through the airport.

We’ve done this trip before, but today felt final. I clutched the crate handles, Frank dashed between check‑in counters, and my parents managed the pets and luggage. The dogs calm and curious when loaded onboard. Tickets in hand, we boarded like pros.

A couple of hours later, we descended into Punta Cana. Breeze through the airport, met out 3 car caravan and shuffle off to our new home.  We unloaded our eight bags, opened crates, and were greeted by wagging tails and our cat's soft rub against our legs—our new normal.

The next morning, I woke up to the birds signing outside, the dog’s gently snoring, and a purring cat.  No fanfare.  No poetic sunrise, just the new reality settling in.

What’s Next for Us?

  • At the restaurant: We get the keys in January, planning a décor update and renovations

  • At home: It's busy but joyful with our four-legged crew, and we’re enjoying the relaxed island lifestyle.
